Tacoma Special Education PTA is a district-wide, non-traditional PTA that serves students in Tacoma who access Special Education. Our PTA was formed in 2016, after a group of parents from Skyline Elementary School met on the playground and decided to organize. The goal was to give students with disabilities, and their families, a collective voice.

Our tagline is…

"Using CARE to Build Bridges." What does this mean?

C=Connections

Our PTA seeks to provide connections between parents both at their local school and across the district.

A=Advocacy

Parents are their child’s best advocate. Learning how to become your child’s best champion within special education is no small feat. We aim to help parents get the skills they need to advocate for their student, and recommend outside help when necessary.

R=Resources

Resources are plentiful but sometimes hard to navigate…especially to a parent who is new to the world of special education. We strive to keep parents abreast of opportunities in our community whether that be social events, educational meetings, or financial assistance programs within the State.

E=Education

Our PTA provides educational meetings on pertinent topics that assist parents throughout their special education journey.
